A History of J. Grippe Industrial Supply Co., Inc.

This was the year when Joseph J. Grippe established his own industrial supply company. Located in Frankfort, New York, operating from his home, he used the basement cellar as a warehouse and the front porch for his office. Specializing in cutting tools, he entered an established, competitive market, where the days were long and lonely but his strong desire to succeed gave him the momentum to make his dream a reality. |

The business was incorporated with Joseph J. Grippe becoming the first President and his wife Mary Alice, as Secretary-Treasurer. |

| ~1970~ | ||
With hard work and continuing dedication the business grew to the point where a modern 1,800 square foot facility was designed and constructed. The newly furnished complex included a large warehouse and paneled offices. |

| ~1976~ | ||
This year saw the addition of a 3,800 square foot warehouse facility which was necessitated by the company's accelerated growth in the cutting tool business. |

| ~1978~ | ||
Renovated the existing office area and increased the total office space. |
||
| ~1982~ | ||
Seeing significant gains in cutting tool sales and the competition having taken notice of the new "company-on-the-block", a 3,200 square foot warehouse addition was constructed to accommodate the growth. |

| ~1984~ | ||
The functions of accounting and inventory control were computerized to better serve the company's valued customers. |
||
| ~1985~ | ||
With continued growth the workforce doubled in size from 5 to 10 employees. |
||
| ~1987~ | ||
The company celebrated it's twenty-fifth anniversary and a major reorganization occurred. Joseph J. Grippe became Chairman, Joseph T. Grippe was promoted to President and Brian E. Grippe was promoted to Vice-President. |

| ~1989~ | ||
A major computer system upgrade was committed to by purchasing and installing the "Prophet 21 System". In addition, a management consultant was retained who designed and developed a formal company policy and procedure manual. |

| ~1990~ | ||
The company added two additional outside sales representatives to expand the company's presence in the marketplace. |
||
| ~1995~ | ||
To continue to be competitive and offer the latest in state-of-the-art order processing the company added Electronic Data Interchange(EDI), Visa, Mastercard, and American Express availability. |
||
| ~1999~ | ||
Implementation of Y2K compliance for the new millennium and a web site was designed and implemented to enhance the company's marketing strategies. |
